On the Iforgeiron website Blacksmith Brian Brazeal generously posted a great storyboard on how to forge a crane and so yesterday I thought I’d give it a go. This is my first attempt and there are a lot of things I’ll need to work on more on the next shot, but it’s been a great learning experience. I hope to learn from Brian first hand someday as I really admire his methods of forging.
Oh yeah and Samuel Yellin's work is becoming that way as well. I haven't been posting many photos of my latest things though... Forging is the most fun I think I could have! Been working an anything new?
Yeah, Samuel does great work! Ha! Too busy working to take photos? XD Oh, lots of different things I just ordered some bronze and sand, so I'll have a go at casting! I may have some questions for you once I do
Yeah Ive been a bit busy, but more so with my actual job and a commission I have going. Photos are a hassle too; especially when working hot metal Awesome you are going to start casting! I have yet to use my torch for that at home, but I plan to soon. Anyway, I would be happy to answer any questions you have to the best of my ability!
yeah thats cool! I am going to try that sometime soon and do viking age style lost wax casting. Right now I use an oxy/acetylene torch with a rosebud tip. The cope and drag (frame) i use for sandcasting is a piece of square tubing cut in half with angle iron tabs welded on the sides to bold them together. It works really well but a simple wood frame is just as good
Yep, I can tell by your work Brian is quite an inspiration to you ha ha!

I think I'll stick with a wood frame, as I don't have a welder...
